Staff from the Cambridge office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell have named Magpas Helimedix as their Charity of the Year.

Every year, the employees at Irwin Mitchell in Cambridge will nominate a new charity to support with their fundraising efforts, alongside the other community and charitable activities that the teams undertake.

The Charity of the Year initiative is part of the work of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation, an independent, registered charity set up by the partners and employees of law firm Irwin Mitchell, which has raised more than £1 million for worthy causes since it began in 1997.

Magpas Helimedix, supports the ambulance service by providing an air ambulance and specialist medical team, which can be despatched to cases of life-threatening illness or major trauma in the East of England and beyond.

Magpas has attended over 60,000 patients since the organisation was founded in 1971 and flights carry specialist trauma doctors and paramedics who can start crucial life-saving treatment straight away, reducing the impact of head and other severe injuries.

We are very much looking forward to working alongside staff at their Cambridge office and to building a great partnership.

“The funds raised over the coming year will help us to continue to provide specialist care for patients, by helicopter or rapid response BMW, at the scene of serious medical emergencies. Supporting the ambulance service, our enhanced doctors and paramedics, many of whom volunteer their own time to work with us from around the UK, are called out to treat patients in life changing situations.
