Rebecca and Matthew Lott from Prestwich in Manchester were hoping for a romantic honeymoon at the Caribe Princess resort, booked with TUI UK Limited t/a Thomson Holidays, but instead suffered from symptoms including diarrhoea, sickness, blood in their stools and a fever during their holiday and continued to suffer with symptoms after returning to the UK. The newlyweds travelled to the resort in June 2014 and both fell ill within the first week of their two-week holiday. The couple have told their legal team that on occasions during their stay at the resort undercooked food was served, including raw pieces of chicken; flies were sometimes seen on food and birds were often seen flying around the restaurant.
