Irwin Mitchell’s specialist accident at work team has assisted a man to secure compensation after he suffered serious injuries in an accident at work.
Our client was employed as a Machine Operative.
On the day of the accident he was working using a 301 Kubota mini digger. He was inside the cab of the digger and was driving it onto a trailer. As he did so the digger started to tip backwards. Our client felt it tipping backwards he jumped out of the cab. He has been told that the digger tipped backwards on itself and fell onto our client forcing him to the ground, and that his colleagues on site lifted the digger off him.
Our client was in a coma for three days and spent three weeks in the intensive care unit at Barnsley Hospital. He spent a total of six weeks in hospital after suffering substantial internal bleeding, two punctured lungs, numerous broken ribs and having to undergo operations lasting between four and five hours, during one of these operations his spleen had to be removed.
Our client has been left with a severe scar on his stomach and scars on both sides of his chest, he has also developed physiological problems following the accident.
With the assistance of Irwin Mitchell’s specialist personal injury department in Sheffield he has received £200,000 in compensation for his injuries.
