Compensation for Man following Hand Injury at Work

A man has received £4000 compensation after his hand was injured in an work accident.

Our client sustained an injury to his hand when unloading a wagon. When the roller shutter door of the wagon was raised, badly stacked items fell from the wagon striking our client's hand and causing a minor fracture with symptoms lasting for 6 months.

The out of court settlement was achieved by Lisa Fairclough of Irwin Mitchell's specialist Industrial Accident Team, based in Sheffield.

She said, "It is important that loads are secured properly when they are being transported so as not to place those unloading them at risk of injury.

"Employers need to make certain that there are systems in place to ensure that this is happening and take the necessary steps to protect their employees."
