Before starting at Irwin Mitchell, I worked as a barmaid/waitress for three years alongside studying for my A-Levels in Law, Sociology and English Literature. I always knew that I wanted to do an apprenticeship straight after Sixth Form. I also liked the idea of combining practical and academic learning.
I work in the International Personal Injury team as a Level 2 Business Administrative Apprentice. I was lucky enough to have work experience shadowing solicitors and paralegals before my apprenticeship. This helped me see what it’s like working for a law firm before applying for the position here.
I love working in such a diverse team as it means I get to learn different skills on a daily basis.
I mainly conduct clerical work within the team. This includes organising documents for paralegals and solicitors and inspecting documents to make sure privileged information doesn’t get shared.
When I finish my current apprenticeship I would like to continue to work for the firm and move on to the Paralegal Apprenticeship.
