I am a solicitor based in the London office. I trained at Irwin Mitchell and qualified into the Medical Negligence team in 2012.
I deal with a wide variety of cases including birth injuries (Erb's palsy and cerebral palsy), delayed diagnosis of cancer, delay in treatment of strokes and negligently performed surgery.
I regularly lecture to the medical profession on clinical negligence issues and deliver external training. I have provided training at Guys and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust amongst other organisations.
Recently I was part of the team which secured a multi-million pound award at trial for a 13-year-old boy who suffered a severe brain injury at birth when his blood sugar levels were not checked despite him displaying clear warning signs of the condition.
Other recent settlements include:
- Securing a £240,000 settlement for a man who sustained serious orthopaedic injuries due to errors made when he attended A&E.
- Helping a client obtain a six-figure settlement after he sustained permanent facial disfigurement as a result of a series of errors made during and after routine surgery.
- £1.6 million awarded at trial for a woman left with devastating injuries after a privately paid obstetrician made a series of errors during the delivery of her first child.
- Securing a £400,000 settlement for a client who sustained an Erb’s palsy injury as a result of substandard care at birth.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
It is both rewarding and important for me to achieve the best settlement possible for my clients which can enable them to rebuild their lives.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell is a team of experts who are all passionate about helping people who have been injured through no fault of their own. I trained with the firm and it was clear from day one how committed everyone is not only to achieving fantastic results for our clients, but also to rehabilitating injured people.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
Outside of work I enjoy playing netball (goalkeeper) and singing in the Irwin Mitchell London office choir. I also never turn down the chance to do a bit of karaoke.
