I'm a Solicitor in our Military Injury Team based in our Manchester office. I specialise in helping serving military personnel and veterans who have suffered injury as a result of their service.
I deal with Armed Forces Compensation Scheme claims and their life-changing impact, ranging from physical injuries to PTSD. We're often able to add significant value to these claims.
What inspired you to get into law?
I was interested in the law from a young age due to my father working in the legal profession. I was lucky enough to undertake work experience with the Probation Service and Crown Prosecution Service whilst I was at school. This gave me insight into various areas of the legal industry.
But the main reason for going into the law was because I wanted to help people, to be able to support people through the most difficult times of their lives and make a difference for them.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding part of my role is to know that the work that I do has genuinely helped changed someone’s life. Getting to know our clients like we do means we can help them achieve the positive result they deserve. Seeing the effects that this will have on their lives and the lives of their family is a privilege.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I am incredibly lucky to work with other solicitors who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in their field. I get to work with some of the most highly regarded solicitors in the military sector. They're very keen to share their knowledge and experience, and they invest in me as I progress my own career.
What do you do away from the office?
I enjoy keeping active by doing weight training in the gym. I am a fan of Salford Red Devils Rugby League Club and enjoy going to home matches and travelling to watch them at away games.
I also love being outdoors and spend as much time in the Lake District as I can!
I am also a ward volunteer at St Ann’s Hospice and have volunteered at the hospice for over 10 years.
