Colin Dunston

I specialise in Private Client work and deal with the preparation of wills, inheritance tax planning, and the administration of estates, I also act as trustee of will trusts and settlements, working with financial advisers, stockbrokers and accountants, and keeping the beneficiaries regularly updated.

I am particularly involved in cross-border work, preparing wills for clients with assets in various International jurisdictions , and dealing with international probates.  I speak German and French. This work can involve liaising with foreign professionals.

I also prepare lasting powers of attorney and act as attorney of some clients who have lost mental capacity. This can involve managing their finances and arranging the payment of their care fees at home or their residential/ nursing home fees, and other expenses.

What inspired you to get into law?

My brother felt it would be a suitable career for me, which led to me studying law at university.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

Advising and helping clients, often at significant, possibly very difficult times in their lives.

What do you do away from the office?

I enjoy going to the theatre and art exhibitions. I also like to play bridge and travel.
