Irwin Mitchell Gives Backing To Movement Park Boccia Club

A Glasgow-based disability sports club is set to gain access to new equipment thanks to a funding boost from Irwin Mitchell, which has been provided as part of the law firm’s ongoing commitment to promoting the benefits of being active.

Movement Park Boccia Club in the centre of the city is set to use the £500 donation to purchase new equipment and to cover the costs of entering various Scottish Disability Sport regional competitions.

Boccia is a ball-based Paralympic sport which can be played by anyone, and is known to play a key role in the rehabilitation and recovery of those who have suffered serious and life-changing injuries.

Irwin Mitchell is providing the support to the club as part of its ongoing Don’t Quit, Do It campaign, which is devoted to promoting the benefits of participation in disability sport. The initiative is backed by multiple gold medal-winning Paralympian Hannah Cockroft MBE.

The Don’t Quit Do It grant programme from Irwin Mitchell offers charities and groups involved in inclusive sport an opportunity to apply for help with the cost of training, equipment or participation in major events. It has already provided more than £50,000 to a range of different projects in the UK.

Irwin Mitchell has also been a long-term supporter of Boccia, with some of its staff also trained Boccia coaches. The Boccia coaches run regular sessions in and around the areas they are based.

In addition, the firm’s commitment to disability sport has also seen it named the Official Legal Services Provider of the World Para Athletics Championships in London last year and a supporter of the Superhero Series held at Dorney Lake in Windsor in summer.
