Beacon Receives Support As Part Of Irwin Mitchell’s Campaign To Promote Disability Sport

Black Country charity Beacon has received a funding boost ahead of a pan disability golf tournament. The Beacon Butler Cup, which will be held on 22 September, aims to promote inclusivity in sport and was recently given a cash boost by Irwin Mitchell.

The Birmingham office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell has provided a £500 grant as part of its Don’t Quit Do It campaign, which seeks to promote the benefits of disability sports and is supported by multiple gold-medal winning Paralympian Hannah Cockroft MBE.

Beacon, one of the leading sight loss charities in the West Midlands, will use the money to help train budding golf players living with various disabilities during the Ryder Cup style tournament. There will also be a presentation and evening dinner event which will further help raise vital funds for future support.

Charities, individuals and groups involved in inclusive sports are eligible to apply for money from the Irwin Mitchell fund to help with disability sports. The programme has already donated £50,000 to projects across the UK.

Set to be held at The Mark Butler Golf Academy Sedgley, the Ryder Cup-style event has been created to help visually impaired and other people with disabilities gain access to golf.

Beacon is a well-established West Midlands charity which was founded in the Black Country and has since expanded. The charity makes a visible difference to people living with sight loss and helps raise awareness of the importance of eye health.
