Top 10 Dealmaking Success For Second Consecutive Year

Irwin Mitchell has been named as one of the most active M&A law firms, according to a new study into 2017 UK deal activity.

The independent Experian MarketIQ report, which is derived from the Corpfin global M&A database, has ranked Irwin Mitchell in the top 10 for the second year in a row according to the number of transactions it advised clients on.

The firm secured second place in the South East and moved from 14th place to 6th in the South West. The firm retained its top 10 position in both the Midlands and Yorkshire.

In December last year, Irwin Mitchell announced the appointment of two new Corporate partners in Manchester, with Adam Kaucher joining from Addleshaw Goddard and Victoria Zivkovic moving from PwC Legal.

According to Experian, there were 7,046 transactions announced last year, down by 5.5% on the 7,489 deals recorded in 2016. This overall decline was primarily due to a slowdown in the mid-market, which saw volumes fall by 14% compared to 2016’s return.
