Law Firm Sponsors Libby Mae’s Little Angels Annual Charity Ball To Help Highlight Importance Of Neonatal Units
Law firm Irwin Mitchell will highlight the importance of neonatal units as it sponsors Libby Mae’s Little Angels annual charity ball on Saturday 7 October.
The key date of the charity’s fundraising calendar, the ball takes place at Birmingham’s Macdonald Burlington Hotel and raises awareness and funds for the charity that saves babies’ lives across the Midlands by supporting all 18 neonatal units in the region.
Libby Mae’s Little Angels has helped fund medical equipment in neonatal units including ventilators to aid breathing; incubators to keep babies warm; and infusion pumps for fluids and monitors.
Irwin Mitchell clients Danielle Evans and her partner, Michael Saunders, both from Gloucester, know the importance of neonatal units; their two-year-old daughter Aurelia Saunders relied on neonatal units at both Gloucester Royal Hospital and Bristol Hospital in the early stages of her life.
Aurelia was diagnosed with Group B Strep and Meningitis shortly after her birth which left her fighting for her life.
Danielle, 28, a pharmaceutical dispensing technician, said: “Despite it being an obviously extremely upsetting and stressful period, we’re just so glad neonatal units were available and ready to assist Aurelia when she needed help the most. We can’t speak highly enough of the importance they provide new-born babies and their families with.”
Michael, 31, a member of the Armed Forces, said: “The neonatal units Aurelia relied on at both Gloucester Royal Hospital and Bristol Hospital helped give her a fighting chance; that meant absolutely everything to us. So many other new-born babies and families rely on these units during their time of need as well, so they really are vital.”
Irwin Mitchell has worked closely with Charlotte and Richard Sharratt, the founders of Libby Mae’s Little Angels, to help spread awareness of neonatal units and the life-saving changes they can make.
A family-run charity that started in 2013, Libby Mae’s Little Angels have contributed massively to neonatal units across the Midlands.
It has significantly donated towards the purchase of a transport incubator that currently transfers more than 1,000 babies between hospitals in the West Midlands annually, and provided several hospitals with comfortable chairs, privacy screens and renovated parent accommodation rooms.
The charity has even bought iPads for units so that families can see their babies even though they can’t be together in person.
