One Holidaymaker Was Hospitalised Twice During His Holiday
A group of 25 disgruntled holidaymakers, including young children, have instructed expert International Personal Injury lawyers at national law firm Irwin Mitchell to investigate the cause of gastric illness suffered by some after staying at the sister hotels Jaz Aquamarine and Jaz Aquaviva Resorts in Egypt.
Among the group of holidaymakers taking legal action are a family-of-four from Bristol who contacted Irwin Mitchell after their summer getaway to the Jaz Aquamarine was ruined. David, 36, and his wife, took their children Jacob, 6 years, and 21-month-old Esme, to the resort after booking their holiday through TUI.
Travelling to Egypt on the 31 July, the family stayed at the resort for two-weeks but began to suffer from diarrhoea, fatigue and stomach cramps on the third day of their holiday.
The Long family have recalled to their legal team the hygiene concerns they held at their hotel. These included food being undercooked and, at times, being left uncovered, unclean pool water and a littered poolside.
David, a contractor, said: “The holiday just turned into a disaster really. We were all going to the toilet around six times a day because of our symptoms.
“As parents it was upsetting to see our children suffering from these symptoms, Jacob’s symptoms got so bad that he soiled the bed five nights in a row as he was unable to get himself to the bathroom in time. It was very distressing for my family.”
Expert Opinion
“Gastroenteritis can have serious, long-term health implications for those affected.
“We are now representing over 25 people who were affected by illness at the Jaz Aquamarine and Jaz Aquaviva hotels following holidays this spring and summer, and we are still receiving enquiries on an almost daily basis from other guests at the hotel suggesting that something was awry.
“Many of our clients are providing similar descriptions of their time at the resort and the problems that they faced.
“We would encourage anyone who stayed at either the Jaz Aquamarine or Jaz Aquaviva Resort this year, and who has since experienced gastric symptoms, to see their GP at the earliest available opportunity. We would also like to speak with them as they may be able to help with our investigations.” Jennifer Hodgson - Associate Solicitor
