Members Of Irwin Mitchell’s Cambridge Office Also Helped The Tesco Shoebox Appeal
National law firm Irwin Mitchell’s Cambridge office has donated £500 to local homeless charity, Jimmy’s. A team from the firm’s office in the city also volunteered to help fill shoeboxes at Tesco for the store’s shoebox appeal.
The firm has given each of its 13 offices £500 to donate to a local homeless charity.
Jimmy’s was founded in 1995 and was Cambridge’s first all-year round night shelter for homeless people. Since then the charity has gone from strength to strength and in 2012 the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge officially opened Jimmy’s new assessment centre.
The assessment centre enables the charity to not only offer a bed to those who need it most, but also offers them engaging daytime activities.
The Irwin Mitchell team of volunteers on the day presented Barry Griffiths, Community, Fundraising and Events at Jimmy’s, with the £500 cheque when they were helping Tesco Cambridge with its shoebox appeal. The superstore launches its shoebox appeal to help those are homeless in the city.
On receiving the donation, Barry Griffiths said: “Everyone at Jimmy’s wants to say a big thank you to Irwin Mitchell for their support this Christmas. Their kind donation will help us to continue providing support for those who need it the most.
“It is thanks to donations from local people and companies, like Irwin Mitchell, that we are able to deliver a 24/7 emergency accommodation and supported housing for those who would otherwise be homeless or vulnerably housed.”
The Irwin Mitchell team consisted of Office Co-Ordinator Paulina Baltsoukou, Litigation Assistant Elizabeth Teague, Paralegal Emma Hohovs, and Rosamund Stafford, a Trainee Solicitor.
