Family Hope For Answers From Upcoming Hearing
Specialist medical negligence lawyers at Irwin Mitchell acting for the family of a father-of-two, who died a week after first collapsing at his daughter’s school prom, have spoken of the family’s hope for answers from the upcoming inquest into his death.
Alex Lockyer, a program manager from Guildford, collapsed at his daughter’s school prom on 13th May, 2016. He was taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital and after being kept overnight for observation, he was discharged the following day.
A week later, after visiting his GP practice, Dapdune House Surgery, three times with continued chest pains, Alex collapsed again at his family home. Despite his wife Sara, 44, calling an ambulance and beginning CPR, tragically Alex died at the family home on 20th May, aged 45.
An inquest into his death will be held at Woking Coroner’s Court on Station Approach, from 10am on 5th September and is listed for three days.
Following Alex’s death, his wife Sara instructed specialist medical negligence lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death in relation to the care he received from the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Justine Spencer, a partner and the medical negligence specialist at Irwin Mitchell's Bristol Office representing the family, said:
Expert Opinion
“This is an incredibly tragic case and, just over a year on from Alex’s death, Sara remains understandably devastated by the loss of her husband and her children’s father.
“This inquest should hopefully provide vital information in relation to the events leading up to his death and we hope that the detail will ensure that the family will be able to get the answers they deserve.” Justine Spencer - Partner
