The Food Standard Agency Urges Consumers To Look For Food Hygiene Stickers

Public Health experts at Irwin Mitchell are backing the Food Standard Agency’s (FSA’s) ‘Look For The Sticker’ campaign, which encourages consumers to look out for the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) sticker that awards businesses a 0 – 5 hygiene rating. 

The ratings are awarded to businesses supplying or serving food direct to consumers such as restaurants, takeaways, cafés, pubs, hotels, schools, hospitals, care homes, supermarkets and other retailers. 

According to the FSA’s latest research, consumers still make assumptions on food business organisations based on their visual appearance and recommendations, despite the high awareness and positivity towards the scheme. 

Specialist Public Health experts at Irwin Mitchell, who have represented thousands of UK consumers that have suffered illness as a result of hygiene problems in the UK and abroad, have welcomed the ‘Look for a Sticker’ campaign, and have urged consumers to ensure they regularly make use of the system when dining out.
