Lawyers Reveal Concerns As Pub Closes Once More

Specialist Public Health lawyers who represent thousands of victims of illness outbreaks in the UK and abroad have warned that there is a growing need for answers regarding reports of illness at the Grove Farm pub in Enderby, after the establishment closed for a second time in three months.

Before Christmas the pub voluntarily closed for an intensive clean and all festive bookings were cancelled after a number of customers fell ill, with the illness linked to an outbreak of Salmonella in Leicestershire.

Now the pub has closed once again, following tests conducted by Public Health England, to allow work to be carried out on its drainage system.

Dr Philip Monk, a Consultant in Communicable Disease Control for PHE said his organisation was working with the local council and Grove Farm to investigate a Salmonella outbreak and that the management of the pub had decided to investigate the drainage system following tests in the kitchen and public areas of the pub.

Following the announcement of the second closure, specialist Public Health lawyers at Irwin Mitchell who currently represent over 300 people affected by an illness outbreak at the Toby Carvery restaurant in Exeter and dozens affected by the national Salmonella outbreak in 2014, have urged authorities to work quickly and thoroughly to provide answers regarding the problems.
