Expert abuse lawyers at Irwin Mitchell have called for a thorough investigation and the implementation of new processes to ensure doctors are unable to use their position of trust to commit sexual offences against vulnerable patients.
Lam Hoe Yeoh was jailed for five years in November 2014 after filming more than 1,000 victims over three years at a number of medical facilities, including Portland Hospital in central London, and hospitals and clinics in Exeter, Sutton, Nottingham and Thames Ditton.
The incidents, which were filmed on a hidden camera placed in bathrooms by the hearing specialist, took place between January 2011 and April 2014.
The 62-year-old doctor from Banstead has now been struck off by a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service panel after admitting seven counts of voyeurism and six counts of making indecent photographs of a child.
Scott Tolliss, an expert abuse lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said:
Expert Opinion
This is yet another shocking example of a person in a position of trust using their position to take advantage of vulnerable people, which in this case were young children.

“It is welcome that he has now been jailed and struck off the medical register, but we would encourage the hospitals he practised at to conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents and, if appropriate, introduce new processes to ensure all patients are protected in the future.

“The main priority however should be the survivors of this abuse of trust and it is vital all those affected are notified immediately and provided access to the help and support they may need to deal with the offences that have been committed against them.
