Expert Public Health Lawyers Concerned By Salmonella Contamination

The Food Standard Authority has issued a product recall for Brindisa Spanish Foods’ La Chinata Smoked Paprika Mild product after tests detected the presence of Salmonella. This is reported to affect the product with batch code 320 only, with no other affected batches currently reported.

Consumers have been urged not to eat the 70g and 750g tins of the product with batch code 320 and to return items to stores to receive a full refund.

Expert Public Health lawyers at Irwin Mitchell, who have represented people affected by Salmonella outbreaks, have welcomed the recall and called for a thorough investigation into how Salmonella was able to contaminate the products made available to the public.

All retailers have been notified of the recall and point-of-sale notices have been supplied to alert consumers to the issue as soon as possible.

Brindisa Spanish Foods has confirmed that none of its other products are being recalled.

It is extremely concerning to hear reports of foods being contaminated with Salmonella. Consumers will need to be reassured that the products being released to the market are not contaminated and that every possible step has been taken to ensure this is the case.
