Specialist Product Liability Lawyers Concerned Regarding Reports Of Issues
Car manufacturer Ferrari has launched a recall on various models of their hybrid sports cars after health and safety concerns were raised.
The 458 Italia, 458 Spider, 458 Speciale, 458 SpecialeA, Ferrari FF, F12berlinetta and California T have all been recalled due to issues with their airbags. The company has warned that, in the event of an impact, the driver's side airbag may not deploy properly which could have serious consequences. All the models sold since their original production dates have been affected by this action.
The 2013 LaFerrari model has also been recalled due to a faulty airbag but has also been plagued by other issues.
According to Ferrari, the cars have faults with the headrests and an alarm signal which should trigger when there is a loss of tyre pressure. If the owner was unaware of this issue when driving then there would be a risk of a loss of control and an accident that should be completely avoidable.
In 2012 Ferrari had to recall more than 1200 supercars worth more than £212 million because of a design error which could cause them to burst into flames.

Expert Opinion
“Consumers’ wellbeing should always be the priority so the vehicle recall is a sensible option. However, given the global reputation of the company it is a surprise to see this happen again.

“Anyone paying for a top of the range car is entitled to demand the highest quality and wouldn’t envisage worrying about issues that, if undetected, could lead to serious accidents.

“When buying any product, consumers deserve to know what they are getting for their money and be fully confident that all the relevant health and safety tests have been completed prior to products being placed on the market.

“Following this recall, it is vital that the company investigates the manufacturing and quality assurance process to determine how this has happened. Their customers will also need to be reassured that the recall will be carried out swiftly to prevent avoidable injuries. They will also require further assurances that the same problems will not emerge in the future.” Kevin Timms - Solicitor
