Leeds Asbestos Lawyers Support Hospices For The Terminally Ill
Specialist asbestos lawyers at Leeds law firm Irwin Mitchell are celebrating an important milestone, having raised more than £200,000 for Yorkshire hospices over the last 3 years.
The impressive amount has been raised following a landmark court ruling in 2011 which found that victims of the terminal asbestos cancer, mesothelioma, could include as part of their claims, the cost of their care provided by the hospice.
Expert Opinion
“I am delighted and very proud that our team has been able to play a small part in helping our local hospices secure a firmer financial footing.
“The circumstances under which we have been able to achieve this are extremely tragic for our clients and their families. However, without the expert care from our hospices, provided free of charge to hospice patients, our clients’ journey would undoubtedly have been much more difficult. We are able to achieve this at no cost to our clients.”

Karinda Jones, Fundraising Manager at Dove House Hospice in Hull said: “We are extremely grateful to Irwin Mitchell for ensuring that the full costs of the care given by our hospice are included in any mesothelioma claim.
“All of our care is given free of charge to patients and families but we have to raise the majority of our £6.3 million annual running costs through donations, legacies, fundraising initiatives and our chain of charity shops. The substantial contribution made through mesothelioma claims is a valuable contribution and ensures that Dove House hospice can continue caring for local people with terminal illnesses.”
