Glasgow-based Law Firm Sponsors Don’t You Forget About Me
National law firm Irwin Mitchell Scotland was the official sponsor of the Don’t You Forget About Me Fatboy Spin music event, which took place on Saturday (7 June) at The Ironworks in Inverness centre.
The event aimed to promote road safety among young adults in Scotland. Ian Buchanan, son of the owner of event organisers Your Event Scotland, June Ross, was tragically killed aged just 22-years-old in a road traffic accident in Aberdeenshire four years ago.
His mother June now campaigns heavily to raise awareness among young people of the dangers on the road, especially in the Highlands, where there are a high number of collisions.
Her organisation’s latest event, Fatboy Spin, was the final in a battle of the DJs competition, following a series of mini heats in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. DJ Acutek was finally crowned the winner on the night after a joint win with DJ Verner until the public vote swayed the win. Dozens of aspiring DJs took part in the heat events with 4 city finalists battling for the overall title at the Ironworks.
June Ross said: “We were delighted to work on this special event with the sponsorship and support of Irwin Mitchell Scotland. It was refreshing to see proactive work from such a company, to help get a simple message over to young people to take care on our roads.
“The personal message we received from DJ Fatboy Slim demonstrates that he’s yet another person who takes the lives lost on our roads seriously. However, the main focus was to have a great night and I hope that everyone did with the array of music on offer from such a large number of talented up-and-coming DJs. We look forward to making 2015 bigger and better!.”
