Sheffield Law Firm Support Bluebell Wood Hospice
Children cared for by a Sheffield hospice and their families have been invited by law firm Irwin Mitchell to see a popular children’s book brought to life by the Blunderbus Theatre Company.
Musicians and actors from the internationally-acclaimed theatre troupe are bringing their family-friendly production of ‘Hugless Douglas’ to 1867 Lounge at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield this Saturday 21 June.
The play is based on the classic children’s book by award-winning author, David Melling, and tells the tale of a loveable brown bear who embarks on a quest to find the perfect hug.
The event has been organised and sponsored by Irwin Mitchell for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. The North Anston based Children's Hospice provides amazing care and support to children and young people with a shortened life expectancy. They help children with a vast range of complex medical needs offering respite care, day care, community support, crisis intervention and end of life treatment.
Children's Hospice Week is the only national fundraising and awareness campaign for children with life-limiting conditions and the services, like children's hospices, that support them. This year’s Children’s Hospice Week (13 – 20 June) will focus on the incredible round-the-clock care provided to seriously ill children by families, professionals, children’s hospices and services across the UK.
Anna Stacey, a medical law expert at Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office, said: “Through our work, we see how invaluable the help and support hospices such as Bluebell Wood provide for families and their children in the region and we are delighted to be able to help them in any way we can.
“We are really proud to be able to bring such an amazing theatre experience to the children and their families and to help them create timeless happy memories.
“We are really looking forward to working with the Blunderbus theatre company for the day and to help create a real party atmosphere for the parents and carers as well as the youngsters. We hope everyone who attends has a brilliant time and enjoys the performance by the production company.”
Rebecca Stoddard, PR and Communications Manager for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “The children and families are really looking forward to this special production. It is a fabulous book and with such a great theatre company delivering it we are sure it will be a brilliant day. We would really like to thank Irwin Mitchell for all of their amazing support and generosity.”
