Irwin Mitchell Host Successful Event In The West Midlands
Irwin Mitchell's Birmingham office sponsored an event for the Law Society’s Black History Month 2014 last month.
The event was held on Friday 31 October at Irwin Mitchell’s Temple Street offices and attendees were invited to join a celebration of the vibrant and diverse legal community in the West Midlands.
The event also offered a networking opportunity for undergraduates who are interested in pursuing a career in law and also legal professionals keen to promote diversity in the legal sector and beyond.
Speakers on the day included President of the Birmingham Law Society, Eileen Schofield, renowned local lawyer, Karen Bailey and Partner at Irwin Mitchell Amandeep Dhillon.
This is the second time that the Law Society has staged a Black History Month event in the West Midlands. The event was also organised in conjunction with Birmingham Black Lawyers.
Expert Opinion
We are very proud to have sponsored and hosted this event for the Law Society’s Black History Month.
“The event is a celebration of the racial diversity in our industry and our city, and was also a fantastic opportunity for many legal professionals and aspiring trainees to meet some positive and inspirational role models in their field.
“A key message for me is, to paraphrase the great Civil Rights champion John F. Kennedy, to ask not what diversity can do for us, but to ask what we can do for diversity. I am hopeful that each of us can carry this message forward in our day to day lives.”
