Reports Suggest Around 90 Affected By Illness Problems

An investigation has been launched by Public Health England and Eden District Council after it was revealed that around 90 pupils at Beaconside School in Penrith had been struck by a gastroenteritis outbreak, according to reports.

The News and Star reports that enhanced cleaning has been launched at the site following the reports, with environmental health specialists now working to identify the cause of the illness problems.

It is understood that the problems have not been linked to food preparation at the school, while parents have been asked to ensure children are kept away from the site for 48 hours if they do experience symptoms.

Authorities have said that Beaconside School is co-operating fully with the investigations into the problems.
