Team Is Optimistic About M&A Activity During Remainder Of 2014

Irwin Mitchell has been named as the most active legal adviser in the Yorkshire M&A market for the first half of the year.

According to independent data analysis company, Experian Corpfin, Irwin Mitchell's Corporate and Banking team in Yorkshire advised on nine deals during the period.

The firm, which boasts a six partner team across the region, tied with Gordons at the top of the league table and in the process beat off competition from firms including Addleshaw Goddard, DWF and Squire Patton Boggs.

According to Experian Corpfin, a total of 158 M&A and equity capital market deals were announced in Yorkshire for the first half of 2014. During the same period deal values increased from £1.175bn in 2013 to £3.243bn in 2014.

Irwin Mitchell’s Corporate and Banking team, which operates across both its Sheffield and Leeds offices, advised on some of the region’s highest profile deals during H1 of 2014 - including the multi-million pound MBO at 250-year old tool manufacturer, Spear & Jackson.

Other deals in the region that Irwin Mitchell in Yorkshire has advised on include the £21m acquisition of Ask4 by Darwin Private Equity, the sale of bathroom company Cavalier to HLD Group, Lockton’s acquisition of motorsport insurance broker, MIS Motorsport and Rotherham-based Underwood Meat Company’s purchase of Butlers.
