Fundraisers Brave Shark Infested Waters To Raise Funds For Charity
Two lawyers from a leading law firm will be bravely taking the plunge in shark infested waters next weekend to raise money for a sexual abuse charity in Birmingham.
Fundraisers from Irwin Mitchell’s offices in London and Birmingham will be coming face to face with 10-foot sand tiger sharks at the Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire for the Rape and Sexual Violence Project (RSVP) charity based in Birmingham.
Abuse lawyers Scott Tolliss and Stephanie Pelling will be thrown in at the deep end on Friday, 21 February for the shark dive.
Stephanie Pelling, an expert abuse lawyer at Irwin Mitchell’s London office who will be taking part in the challenge, said: “RSVP is close to all our hearts at Irwin Mitchell because they do such fantastic work with victims of sexual abuse.
"Through our work in the abuse team at Irwin Mitchell, we see the devastation that abuse can have on its victims and the charity provides invaluable support to victims and their families.
"The charity relies on donations and grants so we hope our fundraising efforts will help them continue their life-changing work.
"We are all a little nervous but incredibly excited about taking on such an exciting challenge. We just hope the sharks have been well fed before we dip our toes into the water."
RSVP is a well established organisation that has been operating since 1978 as part of Birmingham and Solihull’s thriving voluntary sector. It provides people with opportunities to volunteer, to actively participate and contribute to tackling sexual abuse and violence together for the benefit of the communities of Birmingham and Solihull in the West Midlands.
