The campaign will see 12 Think Bike! signs donated by Durham County Council permanently deployed at various locations across County Durham.
Christine Hamilton, whose husband Neil died in a motorbike crash in 2013 visited the site of the incident with officers from the Durham Police motorcycle unit to see first-hand some of the signs put in place on popular motorbike routes over recent weeks to encourage drivers to be more aware of those on two wheels.
Two of the signs will be installed on the stretch of road between Tow Law and Cornsay Colliery where Neil lost his life in April 2013.
Christine said: “I asked for these signs to be erected to remind drivers and riders that we need to look out for each other. Follow the rules of the road and pay special attention to those who are less likely to survive a collision.
“Every day 30 bikers are killed or seriously injured in collisions at road junctions in the UK. And last year another 330 motorcyclists joined my husband in dying on our roads, with a further 4,800 seriously injured.”
