Statement From Lawyer Representing Mother Of Sophie Collins
A High Court Judge today approved a care and rehabilitation package for a woman who suffered life-changing injuries after she was involved in a car accident when she was 11-years-old.
Lauren Hurney, a serious injury expert at Irwin Mitchell leading the case, said: “Sophie suffered very serious injuries in the crash ten years ago made worse by negligent treatment by hospital staff. We have been working to ensure she has the necessary funds to allow her to live the most independent life possible.
“Brain injuries are complex and it takes time to fully assess the level of support that will be needed throughout a lifetime.
“Despite the challenges Sophie has faced in the past 10 years, she has shown remarkable strength and determination and has made really positive steps in her recovery supported by her devoted family.
“The settlement agreed today ensures all of her future needs will be taken care of and gives her mother peace of mind for the future that she will always have the support she needs.”
