Two People Seriously Hurt In Cambridgeshire Collision
Serious injury lawyers representing victims of coach crashes across the world have urged authorities to work quickly and thoroughly to investigate a serious collision on the A1 in Cambridgeshire on Sunday morning (October 13th) which left 13 people injured.
The northbound carriageway of the route was closed following the incident between Brampton and Buckden, which saw a coach collide with a lorry.
Two people were seriously injured in the incident and taken to Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge, while 11 other patients were taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Another 29 passengers were reportedly assessed at the scene.
It is thought the coach was carrying Carphone Warehouse employees from the North East who had been at the company’s annual ball in London.
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist serious injury lawyers represent victims and the families of those killed in a number of coach crashes in the UK and abroad, including more than 20 staff and pupils from Alvechurch School injured in a collision in France in February 2012 and victims injured in a separate crash in the French Alps earlier this year.
Commenting on this latest crash, John Davis, a Partner and serious injury specialist at Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office, said: “This incident is clearly very worrying and all of those involved will be keen for answers over what happened, as well as what can be done to prevent the same problems from emerging again.
“From our work on similar cases, we know that passengers involved in such incidents can be left with long-term physical and psychological injuries which can have a significant impact on their lives.
“Issues which will need to be considered as part of the investigation include the weather conditions at the time of the crash, the actions of the drivers involved as well as whether any technical or mechanical issues may have played a part.
“While it is very welcome that the consequences of this incident was not much worse, the ultimate priority must be to assess all aspects to learn important safety lessons from the crash.”
