Birmingham Law Firm Joins Forces With Charities To Improve Local Community’s Health
Solicitors at Irwin Mitchell are teaming up with leading charity, Irish in Birmingham, to offer a Health Awareness Day for the city’s Irish community to highlight a number of different health issues.
Set to take place on 17 November from 10am to 4pm at St Anne’s Parish Centre, Digbeth in Birmingham will see organisations including Sandwell Asian Family Support Service (SAFSS), Birmingham Irish Heritage, Immigrant Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICAP), Aquarius and Sifa Fireside.
Irish in Birmingham has been in existence since 1957, the charity engages with the long established Irish community in the city; the charity serves a vital function in providing quality advice and support services that meet the welfare and cultural needs of the Irish Community in Birmingham.
Also on the day, the Haemochromatosis West Midlands Support Group will be attending. Haemochromatosis, commonly known as iron overload, is a longstanding problem within the Irish community and by having this important organisation at the centre, it will provide an opportunity to answer any questions people may have.

Expert Opinion
We are delighted to once again be working with Irish in Birmingham on this free open day designed to offer the local community a chance to come along and learn more about a range of health issues.
“Research and statistical profiling has highlighted the issues which disproportionately affect Irish people, including high incidence of illnesses and injuries related to work in the construction sector and many people in such communities suffering an iron overload.
“It can sometimes be difficult to come to terms with health issues and even approach a doctor for general health and lifestyle advice, but we hope this informal open day will provide many people with a prime opportunity to come along and learn more about different conditions and other related issues to improve their and their families’ health.
“Irwin Mitchell is committed to being a socially responsible organisation and staff take part in a variety of projects as part of a comprehensive community programme that includes raising attainment in schools, supporting vulnerable groups and offering pro bono support to those who need it the most.” Satinder Bains - Partner
