Trio Of Lawyers Tackle Endurance Cycle Ride
By David Shirt
Three solicitors and their bikes from the city office of law firm Irwin Mitchell have just completed the Scope Endurance Cycle ride from London to Paris, which took place over the weekend.
Real estate and corporate lawyers Paul Mellor, Paul Smith and Christopher D’Este Hoare will have raised £6,000 for the charity, by covering the 280 mile distance in 24 hours - a massive endurance feat whereby they spent roughly 21 hours in the saddle, leaving London at 12 noon on Saturday and arriving in Paris at 1pm, local time on Sunday.
The three cyclists were keen to raise money for Scope, the charity that supports disabled people, predominantly with cerebral palsy, and their families.
Scope had expected 300 people to take part in the Challenge raising a total of £300,000.
As Irwin Mitchell solicitor Chris D’Este Hoare said: "It’s been a fantastic experience. We’ve been in training for over six months to prepare for this and even though we’ve all ended up exhausted and saddle sore, that’s nothing compared to what people with cerebral palsy have to go through every day.
"We’re delighted we’ve completed the challenge and been able to give some support to this worthwhile charity."
