Serious Injury Lawyers Call For Drivers To Take Extra Care On The Roads Over The Festive Period
Three people have died after the car they were travelling in crashed into a lorry before catching on fire.
The Metropolitan Police in London have said the car, a Subaru Impreza, was travelling westbound on the North Circular Road when it hit the central reservation near the junction with Natal Road at around 12:30am this morning (23 December).
The car carrying three passengers then crashed into a lorry, which was coming in the other direction and burst into flames. Both carriageways of London's North Circular Road were shut to commuters during the rush hour this morning.
A second car was also involved in the crash, a Vauxhall Astra, which was carrying two passengers. Both men and the driver of the lorry were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The two people travelling in the Vauxhall Astra have been arrested for causing death by dangerous driving.
Expert road traffic investigators examined the scene whilst both lanes of the carriageway which were closed earlier this morning as police advised drivers to take alternative routes to avoid the scene.
The crash follows on from another incident last week involving a double-decker bus which reportedly swerved to avoid another vehicle in Kennington, South London and then collided with a tree, leaving 32 people injured, two of which who are still in a critical condition.
The tree tore through the front of the bus, pinning two passengers on board to their seats for nearly two hours before they were cut free by local firefighters.
An air ambulance attended the scene to assist with 32 casualties who were taking to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Expert Opinion
These two crashes in London over the past few days are devastating and our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives as well as those who are injured.

“Each year we see the aftermath of a number of incidents, including at Christmas and we hope that everyone will take extra care to ensure they and their families have safe journeys at a time when the roads can be more dangerous as there is an increased risk of ice and poor driving conditions.

“We encourage drivers to take this into account on every journey they make. No journey is worth putting lives as risk and taking that bit more caution and care can make the difference between life and death.

“The authorities will now be working to establish the causes and contributing factors in both of these road traffic crashes.

“We see firsthand the terrible consequences that such crashes have on those who have either lost loved ones or victims left with life-changing catastrophic injuries. We hope the victims and families are now given the specialist support, care and any rehabilitation they might need to help them recover or come to terms with what happened as quickly as possible.”
Colin Ettinger - Consultant
