Irwin Mitchell’s Real Estate Specialists Advise On Major Deal
The Sheffield office of Irwin Mitchell has advised Hallam Land Management Ltd (Hallam) on its sale of land at North East Bridgwater in Somerset to fashion brand Mulberry.
The sale is the latest in a succession of disposals by Hallam on the Bridgwater site, which is already home to a regional distribution centre for supermarket giant Morrisons. David Wilson Homes is also well on target with the construction of over 400 new homes in the area.
Under the terms of the latest agreement, Mulberry is set to start construction work immediately on what will be its second UK factory. The facility is expected to double its production of its womenswear, accessories and footwear and creating 300 new jobs in the process.
Hallam has vast experience in promoting and developing land opportunities across the UK. The company has been involved with North East Bridgwater since 1999 and this deal marks another step towards the ultimate aim of transforming the site into a sustainable development featuring a mix of residential, commercial and leisure facilities.
Nick Duckworth, director of Hallam Land, said: “The sale of land to Mulberry at Bridgwater is the latest in a series of transactions for the redevelopment of this area of Somerset. This development is a clear example of the type of site Hallam Land brings forward to create long term value for both the communities in which we operate.
“We have been greatly assisted throughout by Thomas Hall and the Real Estate team at Irwin Mitchell, who have a proven track record for delivering top quality, commercial advice on developments such as this, and they have continued this trend throughout their work for us at Bridgwater.”
Irwin Mitchell advised Hallam Land Management on the property aspects of the deal.
Thomas Hall, the Sheffield-based Partner and Real Estate specialist who advised on the sale, said: “This deal is an exciting development in the story of the North East Bridgwater site and a prime example of how quality land remains in demand even in difficult economic times.
“This is about more than the site of course, as the creation of jobs and the introduction of a major brand like Mulberry to the local region will undoubtedly prove to be a huge business boost to Somerset as a whole and is another example of Hallam’s ability to deliver quality mixed-use sites throughout the country.”
