Expert Welcomes Investigation

A specialist at Irwin Mitchell has welcomed the Independent Police Complaints Commission’s (IPCC’s) confirmation that it is to investigate Gloucestershire Constabulary’s response to a road traffic collision.

The move relates to an incident on March 16th, when a man was found seriously injured by the side of the road around two hours after a female motorist reported a possible collision in the area.

Following the report at 7.33pm, officers checked the area but did not find anything. They then returned to the location with the woman at around 10pm and found the man, who had sustained serious injuries including a number of broken bones and a bruised heart.

Ifti Manzoor, who specialises in actions against the police at Irwin Mitchell, said: “While the majority of police forces work to a high standard, the details raised in relation to this case are deeply concerning.

“It is welcome news that the IPCC have chosen to take a closer look at these events and hopefully the investigation will lead to answers that could go some way to preventing similar problems in the future.”
