Police Appealing For Information Following Collision
Police in Ayr have been urged by a road collision expert to carry out a thorough investigation into the death of a lollipop lady hit by a bus.
Audrey Williams, 79, of Coylton, died from a serious head injury after being struck by the single-decker vehicle carrying schoolchildren on Thursday morning (January 13th).
The victim is thought to have been an active member of the local community, who had worked as a crossing patroller in the area for around a decade.
Neither the bus driver nor the pupils on board were injured in the incident, while police are appealing for information.
Elaine Russell of Irwin Mitchell’s Glasgow office, who specialises in working with victims seriously injured in vehicle crashes, said: “We regularly deal with the aftermath of road collisions and see first-hand the terrible consequences of such incidents, advising both those who have suffered life-changing injuries and the loved ones of people killed in such accidents.
“It is vital that the police investigating this case work quickly and thoroughly to determine what caused the collision, as well as whether any lessons can be learnt from this tragic incident that could ensure no one else suffers in the same manner.”
