Lawyers Help Improve Life Of Brain Injury Survivors With Glasgow Directory

Brain Injury Survivor Praises Help On Offer

People with a brain injury, their carers, relatives and professionals working in the field are benefitting from a directory that lists services available for brain injury survivors in Glasgow thanks to a leading law firm.

In partnership with the brain injury association Headway Glasgow, lawyers working in the personal injury department of Irwin Mitchell Scotland LLP have collated the Headway Glasgow Directory of Services and have sponsored the production of 1,000 copies which have been distributed to health and brain injury organisations

Elaine Russell, partner in the personal injury department of the firm, said:  “Head and brain injuries have a dramatic and life changing impact for the person injured and for  those who are close to them.

“Irwin Mitchell believes they deserve the best possible medical care, rehabilitation and specialised support following a head injury. It’s our hope that this booklet will help to guide people in the right direction to services they need to help improve life after a brain injury.”

Simon Glen Project Co-ordinator, Headway Glasgow said “We want to make sure that people are able to get information on the type of services they can access. Brain Injury affects people in so many different ways, but we hope that this directory will give some of the contacts that people need.”

Stephen McNulty was a support worker when he suffered an aneurysm at work. He was discharged home from hospital a month later with no information about what the next steps should be.

Stephen said "This directory would have allowed my family and health practitioners to access the support networks that where available, especially during the vital first twelve months of my recovery."
