Popstar Given 14-Month Ban And Fined
Amelle Berrabah of the Sugababes has today been given a 14-month driving ban at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court in London after admitting drink-driving.
The singer has also been fined £2,000 in relation to driving with excess alcohol, after she was arrested on the morning September 23rd as she drove to meet her personal trainer following a night out drinking.
Irwin Mitchell has dealt with a number of cases which have shown the devastating impact that drink-driving can have and leading injury lawyer Keith Barrett welcomed the decision to ban the star.
He said: “Many of our serious injury cases emerge as a result of car crashes related to drink-driving and I have seen first-hand the life-changing impact that it can have on victims and their loved ones.
“I hope that this case has a positive impact by raising awareness of how alcohol can remain in the system on the morning after a night out, which in turn will help to make the UK’s roads safer.”
