Incident Sees Man Lose Arm
A leading personal injury lawyer has welcomed news that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is to investigate a workplace incident which saw a man lose his arm.
David Urpeth, who specialises in accident at work claims at Irwin Mitchell, commented on reports of an accident in west Belfast yesterday (October 11th).
The BBC reports that the victim’s limb became trapped in a cement mixer while he worked on-site at St Bernadette’s Primary School. He has since had surgery at Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.
Workplace injury expert David Urpeth said he was concerned by the details of the accident.
He explained: “While only a small amount of information on the incident has so far emerged, it is clear that this will have been highly distressing for the worker involved.
“I welcome the announcement that the HSE is planning to investigate what happened at the school and hope it provides some answers that will play a vital role in ensuring nothing like this happens again.
“All employees deserve to know that their safety and welfare is treated as a priority.”
