Illness Abroad Claim
A couple who were taken ill on an all-inclusive holiday in the Dominican Republic are taking legal action against their tour operator.
Rhonda Rosier and Michael Purdy went on holiday to the Gran Ventana Beach Resort Hotel to celebrate their engagement.
The couple suffered stomach pain, cramps and vomiting and have experienced months of sickness since their return to the UK, with Mr Purdy even needing to seek hospital treatment on one occasion.
Miss Rosier and Mr Purdy have reported seeing animals in the hotel restaurant, undercooked food, a smell of sewage from the drinking water and damp accommodation.
The couple have instructed travel law experts at Irwin Mitchell to take legal action against Thomson Holidays.
The law firm already represents a number of tourists that were taken ill last year after a stay at the same hotel.
Miss Rosier said: “Standards at the hotel were just totally unacceptable. This was supposed to be a romantic break to celebrate our engagement but it turned into an absolute nightmare.”
