Motorcycle Road Traffic Accident
Law firm Irwin Mitchell has welcomed a new initiative to make North Yorkshire's roads safer for all vehicles especially motorcycles.
Tiny cameras will be fixed to the helmets worn by traffic police in the region in a bid to cut the number of fatalities.
Footage from the cameras, which give a motorcyclists' view of the road, will be examined by highways engineers to see the safety of roads can be improved.
According to Police statistics, last year 81 people were killed on North Yorkshire roads, seventeen of these were motorcyclists.
The initiative is part of Operation Anvil - a police campaign to reduce deaths and injuries on the county's roads.
David Urpeth a Partner at Irwin Mitchell said: "Motorcyclists are always vulnerable in road traffic accidents and unfortunately we represent many people who have been injured, or the families of those that have been killed, in road traffic collisions. We welcome any initiative to reduce the number of motorcyclists killed in road traffic crashes."
