Legionella at Ladywell Leisure Centre, Lewisham
We have received reports of the alleged presence of legionella bacteria in Ladywell Pool, Lewisham High Street. Swimmers attending the pool have allegedly complained that Lewisham Council should have put measures in place to prevent outbreaks of Legionnaires disease prior to it occurring. It is alleged that bacteria was first discovered on 1 April 2008 although reports suggest that the pool itself was not closed until 29 May 2008. The discovery of the potentially fatal Legionnaires disease raises critical questions regarding the upkeep of the pool.
With the centre due to reopen on 16 June 2008, we urge those affected to contact Irwin Mitchell Solicitors.
