Fall At Work
A leaking roof which caused an employee at a Wiltshire service station to slip on a wet floor has resulted in an £8,000 fine for the company responsible.
Leigh Delamere Service Station, run by Moto Hospitality Limited, was also ordered to pay £3,700 for a breach in health and safety after being prosecuted by the North Wiltshire District Council.
The incident occurred in November 2007, yet according to the council's prosecutor the firm had been made aware of the leak in April 2006 but failed to take any action.
Non-slip mats had not been used despite the risk assessment procedures which stipulated they should be put down in the event of a leak.
Moto Hospitality said changes had been made to its administration procedures and the floor tiles and roof had been repaired.
