Ed Buckley

Meet Ed

Ed Buckley was studying to become a pilot at Leeds University when he was hit by a speeding taxi while walking home. He suffered a serious brain injury and doctors didn’t think he’d survive.

He was in a coma for six months and spent two years in hospital recovering from his injuries. Ed’s family asked our serious injury solicitors to help them claim compensation for Ed’s rehabilitation and support he’d need for the rest of his life.

A New Challenge

Ed used music therapy and sport to help him recover. He learnt to walk and talk again and in 2017 he took part in our Superhero Series Triathlon

“Ed’s story is one which shows bravery and determination to succeed at all odds, with him continually defying medical experts during his recovery. He is genuine inspiration and truly embodies the spirit of what we hoped to achieve with our Don’t Quit, Do It campaign.” - Colin Ettinger, Partner and serious injury expert

A Bright Future

Since his accident Ed, graduated with a degree in Aerospace Technology. Through his love of music he got a Special Recognition Brit Award from Nordoff Robbins (a music rehabilitation charity). With his positive attitude we’re sure Ed’s destined for great things in future.

“Ever since I suffered my injuries I’ve had a never-give-up attitude and sport has really helped me develop that. I love the challenge it provides and it’s made a huge difference to me during my recovery.” - Ed

Don't Quit, Do It

Twelve million people in the UK have a disability but only one in six takes part in sport regularly. We want this to change.

Our work with people who have suffered life-changing injuries means we recognise the many benefits that physical activity and sport can have. Don’t Quit, Do It showcases how sport helps people recover from serious injuries and other major traumas in their lives.
