Handling Work Equipment Cases With Expertise And Sensitivity

Irwin Mitchell can help you to make a claim for compensation following an accident that was the result of using faulty equipment at work, with a team of dedicated solicitors on hand to advise on a wide range of work related accidents, including those involving defective industrial equipment.

Industrial equipment must be suitable for purpose and should be subjected to a thorough risk assessment to identify any potential accidents that may arise from its use, particularly if that equipment is being used outdoors or in difficult conditions.

Every employer must take steps to ensure that their employees do not use defective work equipment. This includes:

  • Ensuring that work equipment is maintained in efficient working order and in good repair. Regular inspections of machinery must take place if the equipment is exposed to conditions likely to cause deterioration.
  • Ensuring that employees are adequately trained in methods of use, risks and precautions. Measures must be taken to protect employees against dangerous machine parts and protective equipment should be provided if necessary.
  • Where, notifying employees of the potential dangers when a risk assessment has highlighted specific risks.
  • Withdrawing faulty work equipment from service immediately until it has been repaired so as to prevent injury to employees.

If you have had an accident involving work equipment you believe to have been faulty, you may be entitled to claim for compensation.

Sometimes an inspection of the faulty equipment is needed. In these cases one of our solicitors will visit your place of work to inspect the faulty item, and if necessary will consider the use of an experienced engineer to help test equipment.
