Thermal Burns At The Four Seasons Spa, Turkey

Irwin Mitchell is acting on the behalf of a client who was injured during a visit to the Four Seasons Hotel and Spa Bosphorous in Turkey.

Our client was being treated to a massage by a friend at the Four Seasons Spa on the 2nd June 2011 when the incident happened. Upon arriving at the hotel, our client and his friend were shown to the spa and were instructed to make use of the facilities available while their treatment was being prepared.

Our client and his friend chose to relax in the steam room. Our client noticed that there were no warning signs or directions for use of the steam room. He was in the steam room for approximately 25 minutes before leaving to have the deep tissue massage. During the massage, the treatment provider asked if he was alright as she had noticed that his right foot was very red.

After the massage, our client showered, which was when he realised there was something wrong with his foot. He noticed that his right foot was very red and the skin had changed in appearance. He also noticed that his toe nails had movement, which they did not before arriving at the Spa
.
The following day, our client returned to the UK as planned. Throughout the his flight home, his foot was becoming more painful. He was driven directly from Heathrow Airport to the University College Hospital in London. He was then transferred to a Specialist Burns Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The hospital staff diagnosed our client with severe thermal burns. He has had to have a number of operations since the incident including several skin grafts.

The specialist travel litigation team at Irwin Mitchell are investigating a case against the Four Seasons hotel, the head office of which is located in Canada.
