I'm too young, I’ll do it when I’m older...
Life is full of surprises and no-one ever knows what's around the corner. Unfortunately we speak to many families whose loved ones thought they were "too young" to write a Will. If you die without a Will (called Intestate) the law will decide which members of your family will inherit your possessions. This sometimes comes as a bit of a shock to families, when they realise that law has a very different view to them regarding who should be entitled to your estate. To make sure that your estate goes to the people in your life that are important to you, write your Will today using one of our Will Writing Services.

I don't like to think about dying...
Life and death go hand in hand. We understand that thinking about dying can be very upsetting and sad for some people. We're not asking you to dwell on the thought of dying, however we do ask that you take a few minutes to think about what you would like to happen to the things and people that are important to you when you die. By taking a small amount of time now to think about these issues and write your Will, you could save your family a lot of stress and heartache later when you die. All my assets will automatically go to my partner...
Unfortunately this is not the case but it is a very common and understandable misconception. Under the rules of intestacy, if you and your partner have not formalised your relationship by either getting married or entering into a civil partnership, when you die your surviving partner will not receive any of the assets that you own in sole name, irrespective of how long you have lived together.
Even if you are married or civil partners, other members of your family including children from a previous relationship, may have a right to part of your estate under the rules of intestacy. So your surviving spouse or civil partner may still only get part of your estate. The only way to ensure that your estate goes to the people of your choosing is to write a Will. I don't have a lot of money so don’t need a Will...
This may be true but in reality most of us are worth more than we think especially if we have insurance policies which pay out on our death. A Will fulfils far more than simply distributing your assets to your chosen beneficiaries. To begin with, it appoints someone to sort out your estate when you die. This is very important because they have immediate responsibility (and authority) to secure your assets, including your property. The person you appoint also sees to paying all your outstanding debts, including funeral expenses and taxes. Finally, they share out your estate according to your wishes as you have expressed in your Will. If you don't have a Will there will be no-one, at least initially, to secure your assets and/or property until the Court appoints someone to act on your behalf. This takes time, effort and expense. In the meantime, no-one is looking after your property or money and this is why a Will is important. So it doesn’t really matter how much or how little money you have, a Will is an important document for everyone for all of these reasons. Find out more about our range of Will Writing Services.
