More About Me
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
Partly the fact that I have always been obsessed with all things medical but am not very good with blood! It was also partly that I loved Agatha Christie stories as a child and crime thrillers as an adult. I always enjoyed trying to solve the mystery and find out who was responsible.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
I am totally passionate about my job. I think it is the best job in the world. To be able to work hard at something you find incredibly interesting, and to be able to really make a difference to people is fantastic. For me it is not just about being able to say at the end of a successful case that I got x amount or money for someone but more what the client is able to do with that money to improve the quality of their lives, and to redress the balance for them. Clients who are victims of clinical negligence are damaged not only by the error in their medical care but more often than not the psychological impact of what has happened is enormous. To do this work you have to like people and try very hard to put yourself in their position in an attempt to understand what they are going through.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
Having recently joined the firm I truly appreciate the support networks of very able and knowledgeable colleagues, in particular my mini team, other Partners, the special damages and costs teams to name but a few
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I love running, swimming, cycling and have just discovered spinning, which is exceptionally hard but I feel very virtuous afterwards! I like watching films with my four children and enjoying a glass of wine with my husband.
