About My Role
I am a partner of Irwin Mitchell LLP and a Director of Irwin Mitchell Trust Corporation (IMTC) and Irwin Mitchell Trustees Ltd (IMTL). I head the Court of Protection Departments in Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester. I have over 20 years experience as a lawyer, initially specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence including catastrophic injury cases. More recently on joining Irwin Mitchell I have specialised in identifying and dealing with the best possible legal structure within which personal injury and clinical negligence damages can be managed, either through the medium of a Court of Protection Deputyship or a Personal Injury Trust.
I act as a professional deputy and trustee on many complex high value cases, both in person and as a Director of IMTC and IMTL. I regularly appear in person in the Court of Protection in complex matters where attended hearings are listed.
I also provide forensic or "litigation support" evidence in personal injury claims to ensure that claims are properly evidenced on past and future Court of Protection or Trust management costs, working closely with PI lawyers, counsel and appearing in Court.
I have extensive experience in lecturing on the Mental Capacity Act and associated areas.
