Biography

Robyn is a regulatory lawyer specialising in representing individuals charged with financial crime offences, including fraud. She defends heavy weight complex frauds prosecuted by bodies including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). She also defends individuals facing confiscation, restraint and civil recovery of the proceeds of crime which can include company director disqualification.

Additionally, Robyn advises in the area of health & safety and environmental law, instructed by corporates and individuals facing prosecution by the HSE or Local Authorities. She has significant experience in compliance, working within the gas and mining industry and leads on professional discipline investigations.

Recent highlights:

  • FCA v S, S & Others: first multi-jurisdictional prosecution by the FCA for insider dealing The total value of the combined spread bets and contracts for difference was more than £20m.
  • FCA v J: acting for the sole defendant in FCA investigation and prosecution for allegations relating to conspiracy to insider dealing and money laundering. Following conviction dealing with complex confiscation proceedings with a criminal benefit figure of over £2m.
  • Instructed by former Head of Compliance & Director of a large IFA Network to advise in relation to a FCA Investigation into breaches of FSMA as part of a fit and proper investigation. Includes analysis of detailed s166 report.
  • HSE v A: successfully represented mine manager in relation to HSWA prosecution following fatalities in a Midlands Coal Mine.
  • Advised various medical professionals, medical students, registrars and consultant surgeons. Issues such as dishonesty and bringing the reputation of the medical profession into disrepute is a speciality.
